Beach Bums

After several years of no vacations, we were finally able to make one happen. We hit up San Diego over the weekend and it was amazing! The weather was so nice that we drove around the entire weekend with the windows down. Kyle gets warmer than I do easier and I didn't care. I forced him to roll windows down! The trip was part vacation and part birthday present for Tyler. She just turned 3 years old yesterday and we wanted to take her somewhere fun. She loved the beach. Playing in dirt making "sand castles" is one of her favorite things to do so actually being able to play in real sand was heaven to her. It's funny because she's never even been to the beach before but it was like home to her. I really had a great time watching her play and it was nice to not only get away from the heat of AZ but also the stress of life. I was able to just let go of things that have been bugging me and enjoy my time.

I'm not sure why, but for some reason, this is my favorite picture of the trip so I thought I'd share it first. I love this little stinker so much. She's a spitfire for sure and she gets on my absolute last nerve, regularly, but I wouldn't trade her for anything:

On our way!

I think that I get way more excited to see these silly things than any grown up really should, but I don't even care!

All my crazyhaired, hippie daughter wanted to do once we got to the hotel was call people. This day we live in, she's never seen a land line in real life. I guess with my mom but even her phone is cordless so Tyler was amazed. We actually had to unplug it so she didn't start calling random people.

Beach Day 1:

Tyler was so happy to be at the beach!

Getting my tan on!

Attack of the giant "leaves." This huge seaweed knocked Tyler over in the water and she freaked out for a second before Daddy rescued her, but then went right back out.

Building sandcastles with Daddy!

Beach bums! (For the weekend at least)

Clearly, we wore someone out. :)

Topping off the evening with some ice cream at The Beaked Bear. Yum!

Beach Day 2:

On the second day, we found a different beach spot where there weren't waves. It was perfect for Tyler and there were a lot less people. It was a more family oriented area.

Daddy and Tyler were having a mud fight.

Building a sand castle with Daddy.

I couldn't believe how far this little dare devil went out into the water. She's not on a floatie or anything. That's her and Daddy standing in the ocean and she's waving at me back on the shore. I love her adventurous spirit.

After the beach, we ate dinner at Cheesy Express. That top sandwich up there is a grilled caramel and apple sandwich. I mean... What else is there to be said...
